LONDON – April 13, 2021 – PortSys UK Limited received its Cyber Essentials Certificate of Assurance from the IASME Consortium this month, the company announced today. The IASME Consortium is responsible for administering the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Cyber Essentials Scheme across the United Kingdom.
The Scheme was created by the UK Government and industry working together to design a basic set of requirements all businesses could apply to demonstrate their commitment to cybersecurity. It addresses the most common Internet-based threats:
- Hacking attempts that use known vulnerabilities in Internet-connected devices or tools and techniques available in “Dark Web” forums.
- Phishing attacks to trick users into installing or executing a malicious application, usually by clicking on links or attachments in emails.
- Password cracking and brute force attacks that allow attackers to log on from the Internet to an organization’s systems to launch attacks.
The Certificate of Assurance provides a clear understanding of a company’s technical security controls across five commonly targeted areas of its Information Communications Technology (ICT) defences, including:
- Firewalls and Internet Gateways
- Secure Configuration
- User Access Control
- Malware Protection
- Patch Management
