PortSys launches browser-based File Access for Total Access Control

TAC provides more secure, cost-effective approach than traditional VPNs for access to enterprise resources

MARLBOROUGH, MA – September 29, 2018PortSys®, a global innovator in information security and access control for the enterprise, today announced the launch of the browser-based File Access feature for Total Access Control™ (TAC).

Developed using HTML5 and responsive design, TAC’s File Access provides enterprise organizations a more efficient, streamlined approach for end users to access information, without the security risks of traditional VPNs.

File Access optimizes easy browser access for most file formats used in business today. Context of access policies set within TAC allow administrators to enable or restrict the ability of users to edit or download files, regardless of where they are hosted within the organization’s infrastructure.

Another important feature of TAC is the ability to provide users read-only access to files. For example, if a request originates from an untrusted device, authentication and security policies will prevent access, or grant access on a read-only basis. Read-only allows authorized users to see files on an untrusted device, but still protects the organization by preventing unauthorized users from downloading or editing mission-critical files.

“Organizations have too many costly security solutions to manage within their infrastructure,” said Michael Oldham, CEO of PortSys. “They no longer need to deploy, manage and maintain these costly, vulnerable VPNs. TAC’s File Access offers the most secure, cost-effective way to control access and still allow end users to safely read or download files through a browser.”

TAC makes security simpler, stronger and more unified, offering customers an all-inclusive approach to secure access to valuable resources wherever they may reside, local or cloud. TAC brings together multiple security and access technologies – including VPN, SSL/VPN, SSO, Portal, Multifactor Authentication, MDM, Application Firewall, Cloud Access Control and more – into a single, scalable solution that manages access across the enterprise.

PortSys customers span the globe across many industries, including finance, government, defense, utilities, healthcare, education, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), construction, and other market segments where secure access to enterprise information is vital.
